We’re thrilled to announce that the City of Oakland Planning Department has approved our project. This is a major milestone for us and a particularly big deal because we encountered many roadblocks and delays during the 8 month process. We’re pleased to now have this approval and to move forward on our project.
There are still numerous approvals and permits that we have to secure. Next up is with the Oakland Public Works Dept. for offsite improvements (ie sidewalk, curbs, gutters, loading zones). We have already applied for our building permit from the Oakland Building Dept. and expect to be able to pull that permit as soon as we’ve gotten approval from Public Works.
Assuming things go smoothly with these agencies, we should be ready to commence construction by mid August. That puts us on track to open our store in the Spring of 2018.
There were some key people and organizations that helped get us through the approval process. We’d like to give a shout of thanks to Lowney Architecture, Greensfelder Commercial Real Estate, Stevens Hemingway Stevens, Kittelson & Associates, Mintz Levin, AMS Associates and EBALDC. We’d also like to thank the Oakland City Administrator’s office for being an ally in this process.
We look forward to sharing our next big milestone with you.
